Short film research: Bus 44

The short film watched today was "bus 44" which is a film about a bus which gets robbed on the road and turns to a dramatic ending. It takes place in another country, which makes it have another language. I looked thorough all the elements in the film and here is what I found.

Common Sound in the film

The most common sounds in the genre are the diegetic sound and dialogue. All the sounds in short film originate from the story world. The sounds do help make the film because even with no music you can still feel the emotion and dramatic turn in the story. The lack of sound if anything adds more which makes the film even more drama filled. The sound, while lacking, is still really good.

Common Mis-En-Scene (CLAMPS) in the film

the common CLAMPS in the film are props, costumes, and acting. The acting in the film is dramatic and tear wrenching as you watch the actors go through this situation on the bus. The way the bus driver acts after going through such a traumatic experience is heartbreaking and goes with what happened. Instead of being her pervious self she is broken and seemingly hurt and traumatized. It truly adds to the experience and shows the great acting skill.

Common Editing in your genre

In the film you can see a lot of shot/reverse shot and action shots. These shots are very much used in the climatic part of the film where the bus is getting robbed. Using those shots help make it more dramatic as the quick changes help make it more dramatic. Action shots make it fit together and move together as one shot rather than two different shots. This makes the film build up and make it Shocking and scary.

What elements of the film that you like?

some of the elements I liked in this film was the ending and how it tied together with a dramatic plot twist. I also enjoyed watching the acting as it was so well done. You wouldn't think that this wasn't actually happening, and it makes it seem so real. I felt so generally horrible for the girl and so mad at the people who just sat there and watched. sadly, most people wouldn't do anything, so it adds a bit of realism to the film.

What elements of the film do not appeal to you?

There was nothing in the film that did not appeal to me, everything seems good and works well. If I had to criticize one thing it's the film technique, but even that helps set the scene. overall, the short film was good, and im excited to watch another one and see how it differs from this one.
