How it is going

Image
Hello, my name is Cecelia, and this is my blog where I talk about my groups short film and what we are doing. I'm mostly going to be recapping how the short film has been going so far and everything my group has been doing lately. Today is more stressful than others because it is the day before SAT, which is a really important standardized test. After Sunday we decided to take a break from filming because we wanted to focus this week on finishing test and for me preparing for my play. I won't be getting home all this week until nine so it will be harder to post about anything. At the same time, we won't be able to do anything since we are mostly busy this week. I would like to start editing, but I know my focus won't be on that and my mind will be to be focused on everything else. We have all the scenes uploaded already and we already have a plan on who will be editing what, we just haven't started editing yet. I already have an idea on what needs to be fixed and wh

Finally filming

Today is the day we started filming and I'm so happy about that, we finally get to start the one of the best parts of making a short film.  So, to start off today I had to do something else for my family but after that I went straight to the park where we would all meet up and discuss what we will do for the day and then start filming. It took me a while to get there but I finally did and after when everyone got there, we started filming for our short film. I won't go into what exactly we did, but I will go through the highlights and how filming was overall. So, one of the highlights is all of us getting together and discussing how we would film. It was easy for all of us to get along and each agree on what we should do with the characters and how the actresses feel with the scripts. Each of us really got into our roles, felt the characters, and we all talked about how a small action can change the entire character. I really was happy with my role and how I acted in the film,

Working out the kinks: editing

Hello, my name is Cecelia and you're reading a blog about what me and my group are doing for our short film. Today I'm going to be talking about editing and my experience trying to find the perfect editing website for me and my groups short film. So, to start off I wanted to find an editing software that my whole entire group can use since we each are going to edit a part of the film. Not everyone in my group uses the same brand so I had to find one that was on all platforms for free, like the last software I used. I couldn't find the software I used for my last film because it was on my old laptop that is broken. I had to get a completely new laptop and I lost all the information I had on my old laptop. To start off I went on google and looked up free software editing apps that could be used on all platforms, then went to YouTube and looked up professional editors and what they would recommend using for editing.  After finding all the best recommendations and going through

Actors who can act

Image
Hello, name is Cecelia, and welcome to my blog where I talk about what me and my group are doing for our short film and what we have been up to. Today I'm going to be talking about the actors in our short film and each character they are playing. Since we don't have many characters in the film it's only going to be a few actors I'm talking about. When making the script I didn't really see a need in adding so many characters and decided that I wanted to focus on the main characters and bullies. There is still a lot of dialogue between the characters and actions what they are doing to fill up the short film and experience the feelings of the characters. Creating the characters was easy since as a group we got to decide how we would want them to act and how they would be. Finding the people who would act in the scenes was not as easy since many of the people I know were not interested in acting. At first, I thought that we would have to find people who were willing to

The sweet, sweet tunes of music

Hello, my name is Cecelia and welcome back to my blog where I tell you, the reader, about what my group and I are doing for our short film. Like most people in the world, I love music, so much so that I am in fact in symphonic band. Music is supposed generate joy and be a form of art so artist can make you feel emotions you never thought you would have.  A slow song tends to make people feel reminiscent or sad, while a fast song makes people feel energized and powerful. This week we are choosing what music we want to put in are film and how we want to use and play it. I personally want to use copyright free music since it's easier to access and can be used without needing permission. While there are many songs that can be used and would be able to fit in the movie, it would take too long to get the permission for its use, and we can't be sure we would get it. Now with copyright free music we wouldn't need to worry about jumping through all the hopes to get it. All we would

Rainy day

Hello and welcome back to another one of my blog posts where I talk to you, the reader, about what me and my group have done to work on our short film. For those of you who don't know, as I just said we are working on a short film for our media studies class. Today I'm going to be talking about my groups attempt to film today on a rainy day. So far, we have everything we just needed to start filming something, so we attempted to start filming but we had to stop due to weather. It really isn't an exciting story other than that we were all upset. We wanted to get the filming done early so we would have enough time to edit and work on the music. The following weeks it's going to be hard for us to find days to work together since we all live far apart and are super busy. Zahra has a dentist appointment and is busy with schoolwork so she will be unable to work with us, while Charlie is also busy and had a booked schedule. We need to better work out the schedule for the follo

Props are essential to the film

Image
Hello and welcome back to me talking to you about my group's mini movie, and how excited I am to be doing this. This week me and my group have started working on our short film and one of the things we have worked on were props. We realized that we needed to get our props for the movie as it would be the simplest thing to do, and that we could really do outside of school as we all had a pact schedule this week. We couldn't find a special prop store, where they only sold props, so we went to target instead. It's simple, nearby, and had everything our movie really needed. For me, it was a rough time getting there, I had to balance my time preparing for the play I am in and working around going to the prop store with Zahra and Charlie. So, to work it out I was told their schedules and I told them mine and we talked about what we were going to do and when we were going to meet. I had my mom take me to the target we all agreed on after practice and made sure to have my own perso
