working alone
Today we were given one of our very first video assignments, create a commercial. Its how it sounds, you would choose a product, create and idea of what you want your video to be, then produce it. Its sounds simple but its way more complicated. We were given a choice, work with a partner or group, or work alone. I decided I wanted to work alone for this assignment. While working with other may have been fun and possibly more efficient, working alone seemed better for me personally. In my last post, I spoke of wanting to connect with people, and this project seemed like the perfect opportunity. However, I don't want to use an important project like this to make friends, I want to use it as a learning experience. I have my own ideas I want to use, and I want to learn about doing my own work. While working alone on this project may give me more responsibilities, I still think its better than doing it in a group. I wont be doing this project with no help what so ever I'm going to ask some people to help me with recording but nothing more than that. My future thoughts on this project are that the most difficult parts might be storyboarding and editing. I say editing and story boarding because I don't want to mess up any footage in post-production. There are specific camera angles I need and I'm not sure if it will show up while editing, so I need to make sure I don't delete any important shots. I'm not as worried about story boarding as I am with editing, its just a concern that the ideas wont show well on paper and that it will look messy. Storyboarding is basically showing what your video will look like with drawings, but if it doesn't look right my whole concept can just be thrown out the window and I would have to start over. I just need to remember what the whole video is about, and how I want it to look. Other than my worries I am excited to start this project as it sounds fun. I know that i am ready to start thinking up ideas, and even start using the ones I have now. I cant wait to direct, act in, and write, my own commercial.
